What’s on the Wine Rack?

First of all dear readers, Happy New Year! A new year with new beginnings, and we hope to reopen and serve you again at Bowery Restaurant very soon.

A new year also means a new blog! Can you guess the topic of today? Well today, we are going to discuss the topic wine. Who does not love a good wine? Cause we do, especially the ones from Bowery Restaurant and the Vine Room!

For the reel wine lover you must make a visit to the Vine Room located at Bowery Restaurant. This name has its roots from the word La Vigne in France, meaning the plant of the grapes. The Vine Room serves 55 different wines from small independent producers in over more than 40 regions.  From sparkling, to aromatic till juicy and elegant. There are two different menus for the wines but guests can order form both. Wines from both menus combine really well with the cuisine of Bowery Restaurant.

In Bowery Restaurant we work mostly with local and seasonal produce, therefore we also have two Dutch wines on our menu. Two special wineries in the Netherlands are located in Limburg, one is called the Apostelhoeve and the otherone is Thorn. The Apostelhoeve cultivates grapevines and creates beautiful white wines from five different grape varieties. Besides this they also make two beautiful sparkling wines. At Bowery we serve the Cuvée XII from the Apostelhoeve. From the winery Thorn we serve a Dornfelder, which is an elegant red wine, full of flavor with a lot of red and black fruits. This wine is matured in old French oak barriques.

The house wine we serve at Bowery Restaurant is named Charlotte M. This wine is named after the daughter of the producer. We serve a white wine, 100% Chenin Blanc and a red wine, Shiraz. This wine is produced in the Western Cape region in South Africa. Another special and popular wine we serve is a Cabernet Sauvignon, a red wine from Washington State, USA, from Charles Smith. The wines from Charles Smith are produced via old-world winemaking techniques, the red wines undergo long macerations of 30 days or more on the skins, with no racking after malolactic fermentation is finished.

Although all the wines match with the cuisine of Bowery Restaurant, we still have a tip for you! If you order the Nasi Goreng and you are a red wine lover, choose the Charlotte M Shiraz. More of a white wine lover, than go for the Domaine Alain Pautré Chablis, which is a 100% Chardonnay from the Burgundy.

Still not sure what to choose? Ask one of our team members and they will help you with your decision.

Until next blog!
